Welcome to Applitech.net:

My name is Bill Hutchinson, and Applitech.net is the doorway to my office.  From here I provide conceptual design and prototype development services to customers all over the United States and a in few other countries around the globe. 

Through Applitech I offer services in two disciplines:

• Mechanical Design of products, tooling, machinery and equipment
   
• Software Design of custom business systems and web services

I have a broad base of skills and extensive experience in both disciplines.  Of course I only take on projects appropriate for my skill set, but  it's fairly extensive as you are welcome to see on my resume.  I charge for on an hourly basis rates starting at $60. / hour and going up depending on the complexity of the job.  I am a licensed Professional Engineer (Mechanical) in good standing in the state of Pennsylvania.

• Mechanical clients come to me when they have a unique product or equipment idea and want it developed into a workable design illustrated in CAD drawings.  In some cases I go beyond that and produce actual working prototypes, then continue interactive testing and development in my small onsite lab.
   
• Software clients usually come with a need for a system that computerizes a procedure they do manually and cannot easily abandon and replace with an off-the-shelf software product.

In either discipline, the most significant thing I bring to a project is a genuine talent for seeing through to the heart of a problem and finding the most simple solution possible given the resources available.  Several years ago a colleague speaking at my going away party from Bethlehem Steel Research Department had this to say.  "If I went to Bill today and told him I needed him to design me a concrete airplane, I know in a short time he'd call me in and show me a design, and I would know right away that it would fly."
